Backpacking Insurance

Once a famous traveller said that “I don’t want to feel at home when I am abroad” and how true it is for all we backpackers. We love to leave all our bonding, feelings, work and regular life behind at home and travel anywhere where our eyes take us. Backpacking provides us the time to know different places around the world, different people and their varied cultures. So pack all the things that you need for your backpacking like credit cards, passport, cash and also your backpacking insurance. Backpacking insurance! What’s that?

Come on travellers! Backpacking insurance is one of the most important things that you should get before moving out of the country. You need to get your backpacking insurance sorted way before leaving town and should leave it to the very last minute. Backpacking insurance is an insurance that covers everything related to your journey. This includes cover on your expensive personal belongings, theft etc.

Nowadays, there are a lot of travel agents who will organise the insurance on your behalf. If your travel agent does not offer this facility to you, then you need to do some research and find a insurance police for your needs. Before you choose a insurance company there are a few things that you consider before parting with your money.

The things that you should consider before choosing the backpacking insurance agency are as follows:

##If you are going on a long trip to multiple countries then find out if the policy covers those countries or not. Also find out whether it’s possible to extend the insurance for an indefinite period exists.

##The policies that cover only the medical are much cheaper but that is all they cover. So weigh our options before finalizing a particular policy.

##Look for an insurance that covers all your expensive personal belongings like digital camera, laptop or i-pod. Look into the specific details of the policy to see whether the items that you own are covered. You may be required to cough up a little more for these but believe me it is better to get them covered than lose them on a trip and can’t afford to replace them.

## Now, the most important part. See whether the policy covers you for theft of cash or credit cards and how much you are covered if they are used for unauthorised spending.

Before leaving for the trip do not forget to take the insurance details along with you. You must also note the hotline number provided by the insurers for contacting them at any point of time. Keep all the receipt of the purchases or the cash withdrawn from the ATM as they are sometimes to be produced on losing the credit or the ATM card. Try to inform your insurer at the earliest if something goes wrong on your trip. Backpack insurance can save quite a lot of had earned money.
