Buying a backpacking tent is a complicated process as there so many to options available these days. Backpacking tent reviews are a great way of hearing the first-hand experiences of fellow backpackers, and should help ensure you purchase a suitable tent.
Everyone’s requirement for a backpacking tent are different and they will normally depend on usage. If you plan to take your tent away with you in a car to the South of France during the summer months then this review may not be too relevant for you. This tent discussed below is designed to be used at high altitudes where conditions are highly demanding and puts extreme pressure on the tent to perform. As the tent will be carried in a backpack to these high altitudes means that it needs to be lightweight.

The Coleman Rigel X2 Backpacking Tent Review
The lighter a tent is the better, as it makes it far easier to carry. Anything around the 1.5kg/2kg weight should be fine depending on your size. The Rigel X2 is one of the lightest around and weighs a mere 980g according to the manufacturer. For a two man tent, you won’t get much lighter.
The double layer ventilation system protects you from the elements and also removes the chance of condensation forming. This also makes it very breathable which is handy in the summer months yet hardy enough for high altitude camps during the autumn and spring when temperatures can fall.
Packing up is a breeze, it literally folds into it’s self so can be down in a matter of minutes. One of my pet hates is spending hours and hours putting up and putting away tents so this was a great relief.
As you can see from the picture, it’s colours are very distinctive and a welcome break from the traditional dark green that so many tent manufacturers still persist with.
It’s price is a major factor in me recommending this product. It’s not the cheapest around but is highly competitive considering the benefits I’ve mentioned above.
I hope this backpacking tent review was of interest. If you want to purchase one they are available at Amazon.
