Packing for a backpacking trip is not easy. Going away for long periods of time means that there is an awful lot of equipment and accessories that you need to take away with you. I often get asked ‘What should I not forget when backpacking?’ and although there is no right or wrong answer here are some of the most important things to me:
- Passport – Probably the most important piece of equipment you will carry. Leave this behind in a hostel and you won’t be going very far for quite a while!
- Daypack – A really useful piece of kit. Means that you can take a few important bits of equipment with you on day trips without having to carry all your luggage around.
- Backpacking GPS – If you are planning on going into the countryside and exploring then a backpacking GPS is a must! You should never get lost with one of these, just remember to charge it up!
- Backpacking Stove – Again more for wilderness backpackers, there really is nothing better than having a warm meal and the end of a long days hiking.
These are the items that I always try not to forget when going away backpacking, what about you?
